Some people think that God is just waiting up there to hit us with the ten commandments. But God is a God of love who wants what is best for his children. Like a good Father he does spank us when we need it but the ten commandments and other rules in the Bible are for our protection much like a wall around a jungle compound. When we do things His way he can bless us. When we do things our own way we come out from under his protection and suffer the consequenses of our actions. John 10:10 says "The theif(meaning the devil) comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I (meaning Jesus God's Son) am come that ye might have life and have it more abundantly." You are special to God and there is nothing you have done that can't be forgiven if you confess your sins and beleive on the Lord Jesus Christ. He will come into your life and make you a new creation. God gives you a chance for a life "do over".
